Join RETCC Director Susan Korrick in a conversation with Donna Vorhees, ScD and Jessica Shoaff, PhD as they talk about their inspiring career trajectories.  

Panelists:

Jessica Shoaff is Associate Director of Epidemiology at Biogen, Cambridge, a pharmaceutical company that develops and delivers therapies for people living with serious neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Shoaff has a B.S. in Neuroscience from Dickinson College, an MPH from Boston University School of Public Health, and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Brown University. She did postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health and has worked in biotech and pharmaceuticals since 2020.

Donna Vorhees is CEO and Vice President of HEI Energy, Boston, a nonprofit affiliate of the Health Effects Institute (HEI). HEI Energy is an independent research organization providing impartial science about potential human exposure and health effects associated with onshore development of oil and natural gas from shale and other unconventional resources (UOGD) in the US. Dr. Vorhees leads HEI Energy’s work in providing information about potential human exposures and health effects associated with unconventional oil and gas development and how they might be prevented or minimized. She received her Sc.M. and Sc.D. in Environmental Health from the Harvard School of Public Health.... Join RETCC Director Susan Korrick in a conversation with Zhanlei Ye, PhD, and Bryan Stierman, MD MPH as they talk about their inspiring career trajectories.

Panelists:

ZhanleiZhanlei Ye is currently a data scientist in Google Search, working on understanding and improving Search users' experience with experiments and data. Before joining Google, Zhanlei did her PhD training in Neuroscience with Prof. Takao Hensch (MEMCARE-SRC Project 2) at Harvard University, where she also received an MA in Statistics. 

BStiermanBryan Stierman works as an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, performing analyses of survey data and administering the NHANES Biospecimen Program. He was born and raised in Texas and received his BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained both his MD and MPH (in Global Health Leadership) at New York University. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC and his fellowship in pediatric environmental health at Boston Children’s Hospital, with Susan Korrick, our RETCC Director, after which he joined the CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) fellowship in applied epidemiology, finishing in 2021.
